Klaassen planning to revive Everton career

Davy Klaassen is preparing to fight for a long-term future at Everton.

Klaassen found himself marginalised in an underwhelming debut campaign at Goodison Park following a £23.6 million move from Ajax last summer.

A proposed loan move to Napoli in the January transfer window offered him a potential escape route only for the deal to collapse at the eleventh hour.

The Holland international made just 16 appearances for the Blues last season and was given only four outings under erstwhile manager Sam Allardyce.

But the ex-England boss’s departure this week has seen Klaassen’s hopes of transforming his Everton spell boosted according to his agent Soren Lerby.

“Davy is not someone who gives up quickly,” Lerby told AD newspaper.

“He wants to start the preseason at Everton.”
