Allardyce: Vocal minority behind Everton sacking

Sam Allardyce claims a vocal minority of fans were behind his Everton sacking.

Allardyce received his marching orders as Blues manager on Wednesday after six months in charge despite steering the club to Premier League safety.

The one-time England boss was an unpopular figure among the Goodison Park fan base due to an uninspiring brand of football and dismissive nature.

But Allardyce points the finger of blame at vocal dissenters for his dismissal and believes that the bulk of Evertonians were in favour of him staying on.

“I think there were certainly more Everton fans who were happy with what we were doing and going in the right direction than the ones that weren’t,” he told TalkSport.

“Those who show discontent are the ones who are more open and vocal about it. The ones who are satisfied don’t really say too much.

“I would say most of them didn’t want me out. Not everybody has the same opinion as some few

“But that has been fuelled up over many media centres – that happens today and I accept that.”
