Everton in hunt for second Ajax playmaker

Everton are said to be targeting a move for Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech was previously linked with a move to Goodison Park in 2016 prior to leaving FC Twente for the Amsterdam giants in a £9.5 million switch.

The Morocco international scored eight times and provided 13 assists in 31 outings this season as Ajax lost out to PSV Eindhoven for the Eredivisie title.

According to Calciomercato, Ziyech is attracting interest from other clubs besides the Blues with Valencia touted as another potential suitor.

He featured in Ajax’s run to last season’s Europa League final but recently admitted that he wishes to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena.

“I think I’m ready [to leave], I’ve said it many times, it’s not new,” he told Moroccan outlet Lionsdelatlas.

“I want to challenge myself and develop myself, so maybe it’s time to go further and find a new challenge.”

Serie A giants Roma and Inter Milan are also credited with interest in the Holland-born player.
