Cenk Tosun admits he was left ‘gobsmacked’ by Everton fans research of him.
Tosun arrived at Goodison Park in the January transfer window in a £27 million Besiktas and the striker has quickly become a fans favourite in recent weeks.
The Turkey international was nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award after a streak of three goals in four games across March.
But ahead of his move to Merseyside, Blues fans contacted their counterparts at Tosun’s erstwhile employers in a bid to get the lowdown on their new signing.
That led to many learning the player’s nickname, Tosun Pasha, a fact which the 26-year-old admits left him stunned.
“They pronounce my name really well to be honest,” he told TurkishFootball.com.
“They call me Cenk but I have heard some of the fans call me Tosun Pasha [meaning King Tosun or General Tosun which I was chuffed about.
“Knowing they actually researched and spoke with Besiktas fans to learn this left me gobsmacked.”
