Sam Allardyce says Cenk Tosun is showing why Everton were desperate to sign him.
Tosun recorded a second goal in successive games during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Brighton with a superb finish to put the game beyond doubt.
A week earlier, the Turkey international had opened his account as the Blues slumped to a 2-1 reversal against Burnley.
There had been fears that Tosun would struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League following his £27 million move from Besiktas in the January window.
But Allardyce believes the 26-year-old’s upturn in form is finally demonstrating why he was heavily sought by the Goodison Park hierarchy.
He said: “The quality told in the end.
“We were only missing final third quality in the first-half to get in front after dominating it and then when we produce that quality we got ourselves deservedly in front.
“It’s a shame it’s an own goal and not a Theo goal but the pressure Theo put the defender under caused him to put it in his own net, as well as the quality of the ball.
“And the second goal is why we bought the lad from Turkey, why we brought Cenk into the club.
“That’s two in two now and we saw the type of finish he delivered for us at the right time because going into the final stage of the game just 1-0 up can be nervous.”
