Allardyce dismisses Everton fan backlash

Sam Allardyce has dismissed supporter backlash in Everton’s defeat to Burnley.

Boos and chants aimed at the Blues manager greeted the final whistle at Turf Moor after the visitors suffered a second half capitulation to Sean Dyche’s side.

Cenk Tosun had opened the scoring in the 2-1 reversal before being forced to make way for Oumar Niasse as Allardyce made a series of baffling changes.

Travelling fans also reacted negatively to Everton substituting Gylfi Sigurdsson in favour of Yannick Bolasie later in the game.

Asked about the crowd’s response to Tosun’s withdrawal, Allardyce said: “It happens.

“My job is not what the fans are saying or not saying. This is only his second start.

“We replaced him with fresh legs which is Oumar who has scored more goals recently than anyone else.

“It hasn’t worked by the fact we haven’t played well enough in the second half to create enough chances.

“Everyone has an opinion on a game of football.”
