The family of a woman found inside a St Helens flat has paid tribute to her.
Delia McInerney’s remains were discovered at a property in Gerards Court on January 8 after police received reports of concerns for a person’s safety.
The 64-year-old’s home on Douglas Road in Anfield was searched and led to two street wide evacuations after officers discovered a ‘suspicious powder’.
George Gordon has been charged with murder after initially being arrested on suspicion of concealing her body and obstructing the coroner in their duty.
In a statement released to Merseyside Police on Thursday (February 12), Delia’s sister Rita McInerney paid tribute to the ‘kind, caring and helpful’ late artist.
She said: “A great artist, a free spirit, really ‘out there’.
“A rebel. Intelligent with a dynamic personality. Kind, caring and helpful.
“She was well loved as a sister and friend. I will miss her always.”
