Schoolboys arrested over machete attack

Two schoolboys have been arrested following a machete attack in Fairfield.

Police received a report that a girl had suffered a head injury after being assaulted outside Londos shop on Prescot Road at around 9pm on Sunday.

She is currently recovering following treatment in hospital.

A 15-year-old boy from Anfield was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has been conditionally bailed as enquiries continue.

Detectives also detained a 14-year-old boy from Kensington and a 19-year-old Old Swan man, both on suspicion of attempted murder, who were also bailed.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts said: “Extensive enquiries continue into this serious incident, and despite three arrests being made, we are still keen to hear from anyone who saw or knows anything which may assist.

“Any detail, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could be vital to this investigation.”
