Person dies in Liverpool Lime Street incident

A person has died after an incident at Liverpool Lime Street station.

Emergency services were called to the city centre station at 12.30pm on Sunday following reports of a concern for safety with police and paramedics in attendance..

Several services were either cancelled or delayed as a result with Northern, Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express trains among those affected by the incident.

Northern informed passengers via social media that the line was blocked near to Lime Street due to what they described as an ’emergency incident.

British Transport Police have now confirmed that they have launch an investigation after a person was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “British Transport Police were called to Liverpool Lime Street at 12.30pm today (April 28) to reports of a concern for safety.

“Officers and paramedics attended. Sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is being investigated.”

Northern Rail used X to inform passengers that the line is blocked near Liverpool Lime Street due to the “emergency incident.”
