Two men slashed near Smithdown Road

Two men have been stabbed in an incident near Smithdown Road.

Police were called to Danube Street shortly after 6.20pm on Tuesday where they found a man in his 20s who suffered wounds to his back, leg and chest.

He was airlifted to Aintree Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

A short time later, a second man also in his 20s presented himself at another local hospital with arm and hand injuries consistent with a bladed weapon.

Detectives say that his injuries are not though to be life threatening.

Chief Inspector Lisa Ledder said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place.

“We are currently examining CCTV and doorbell footage and speaking to witnesses to understand what led up to the two men being injured.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Danube Street who saw or heard anything or anyone who has any information to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
