A teenage boy has been arrested after a double assault in Liverpool city centre.
Police on patrol were approached by a man at Queens Square Bus Station who claimed he had been involved in an altercation in St Johns Gardens.
Officers search the area around midnight on Thursday and found a man with a serious eye injury for which he was taken to hospital to receive treatment.
Less than an hour later it was reported that another man in his 30s had presented himself at hospital with injuries from another reported attack.
A 17-year-old from St Helens has since been arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall said: “Both of these incidences were very nasty attacks as both victims sustained serious injuries and are receiving hospital treatment where they still remain.
“Although an arrest has been made, I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity at around midnight and thereafter who witnessed both attacks to please contact us – as you may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.”
If you have any information on both of these assaults please contact Merseyside Police’s social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with any information, with reference 23000518622.
