A teenage girl has been arrested for hitting a police officer after hundreds of youths gathered in Liverpool city centre.
Police were callled to the Royal Albert Dock at around 6.40pm on Tuesday to reports of a fight breaking out between a large group of children in the area.
Multiple patrol vehicles attended the scene at Gower Street and officers discovered a sizeable number of children involved in anti-social behaviour.
A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a cut to his arm as police attempted to move the groups away from the popular waterfront spot.
During those efforts a 13-year-old girl assaulted an officer and was arrested.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a dispersal zone is now in place for the Albert Dock and the surrounding area in a bid to combat anti-social behaviour.
Officers will remain in the area to provide a visible presence and deal with any further incidents.
