Christmas activities to do during November and December

The countdown to Christmas is on. With the magical day only a few weeks away, you might be looking for some Christmas activities to get stuck into to keep you busy. If so, we have plenty of ideas for you that will truly get you into the festive spirit.

Create your own wreath

Is your front door looking a little bare? If so, why not introduce a wreath to it this Christmas? Wreaths are made to celebrate the cycles of nature and can really help to cheer you up as you walk up to your home. To make one, you will need a wreath ring, twine, florist wire, scissors and some textured foliage. Fir cones and dried oranges also help to make it look more authentic and wintery. Once you’ve got all the necessary materials, head to YouTube to watch some DIY videos!

Decorate a gingerbread house

Do you have a family member in your household with a particularly sweet tooth? If so, get them to make a gingerbread house with you. To make it even more fun, you could have a go at making one each, and pick a winner once the creations have been finished.

Make your own Christmas centre piece

If you’re particularly creative, there is no doubt that you would love to craft your very own centrepiece for the table. If that’s the case, grab some seasonal blooms such as pine, eucalyptus or pittosporum and arrange them in a long greenery runner. From there, tie them together loosely with twine, and dot some candles alongside the plants. For a bit more Christmas spirit, incorporate some fresh berries, too.

Pick out your own Christmas tree and decorate it

There is nothing better than choosing your Christmas tree, getting it home and placing in its stand ready to decorate. If you haven’t yet gone up the loft or down to the basement to retrieve your decorations, now is the time! Don’t forget to pop some Christmas songs on while you hang all your baubles, too.

Plan a family games evening

With all the social distancing rules in place, there is no better time than now to make memories with the family members that live with you. You don’t have to wait until Christmas Day to get the Monopoly board out – play now instead!

Watch Christmas films whilst drinking hot chocolate

November and December are the perfect months for getting cosy. With it being so cold outside, it’s the ideal time of year to put on your fluffy socks, thick jumpers and wrap yourself up in blankets with a mug of hot chocolate. Now you just have to decide which films to watch.
