Since his move from Southampton to Liverpool back in 2014, Adam Lallana has on occasion struggled to live up to the hype which surrounded his big money transfer to Anfield. However, seek the introduction of Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager certainly seems to have positively impacted Lallana, who has turned in some quality performances in the second half of the season. Having been on the peripheries at international level during England successful qualifying campaign, he now looks likely to play a big role in Roy Hodgson’s plans for this summer’s European Championships.
Lallana scored in Liverpool’s recent fixture with Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United, and has been one of his clubs key individuals over recent months, particularly in Europe. Liverpool have reached the Europa League semi finals thanks to a dramatic defeat of German giants Borussia Dortmund, with Klopp singling out the Englishman for well earned praise. Having made his international debut back in 2013 while still at St Mary’s, Lallana would be part of the England set up that travelled to Brazil for the World Cup just a year later. Hodgson clearly is a big admirer of Lallana’s talents, and as a result is 1/5 with bookmakers Coral to be on the plane to France come June.
Having recently been awarded the PFA fans player of the month award back in March, a continuation of such form from now until the end of the domestic season could well see Lallana cement a starting birth for England in their opening Euro 2016 fixture against Russia. Indeed Lallana is 5/4 to do just that in the England betting odds with Coral. The likes of Anfield team mates Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Clyne will be hoping to join Lallana this summer, where odds on England reaching the final are 8/1 with Coral.
Henderson faces a race against time to recover from injury in time for the tournament starting on June 10th. The former Sunderland man suffered knee ligament damage in Liverpool’s first leg tie against Dortmund and looks likely to remain on the sidelines for the rest of the season. Hodgson faces a selection headache over the selection of the Liverpool skipper, along with the likes of Jack Wilshere and Phil Jones who are also returning from long term absences.
