Plans to modernise Moorfields station could be completed by spring.
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) committed to an estimated £1 million facelift for the Merseyrail station in June last year.
New cladding, enhanced signage, a covered staircase and secure cycle storage are among the upgrades set to be implemented in the scheme.
Moorfields first opened in 1977 as a successor to Exchange Station and formed part of the Liverpool Loop line alongside the city’s other stations.
A Merseyrail spokesperson said: “The works are ongoing, and the next phase will require a temporary closure of the cycle storage facilities.
“These are currently due for completion by May, although we are all working to have them finished as soon as possible.
“The works will deliver a more modern, well‑lit and safer entrance, as well as significantly improve the overall appearance of the station.
“We’re working hard to complete everything as quickly as we can.”
