Billy Moore is set to face trial over his role in a fight inside a Kirkby gym.
Moore and Paul Carragher were arrested in April over the incident in the changing area at David Lloyd facility on Knowsley Industrial Estate
Video footage of the brawl was widely shared on social media within hours and included a recording of the pair being led away by police officers.
Both men were charged with using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear or provocation of unlawful violence.
Moore appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (September 9) to answer the charge which was levelled at Carragher in an earlier hearing.
Carragher, 46, received a 12-month conditional discharge at the same court on September 1 after entering a guilty plea to his role in the viral fracas.
However Moore denied the charge and signalled to the court that he will contest it on grounds of self-defence which will lead to a trial on January 21.
The case will take place over three hours in the afternoon with the 53-year-old from Netherley conditionally bailed until his scheduled hearing early next year.
