Liverpool hotels record busiest ever month

Hotels in Liverpool city centre have seen their busiest ever month.

New figures released showed that more than 195,000 rooms were sold in July which marks the highest number since records first began back in 2004.

The overall figure of 195,780 eclipses the previous record of 192,070 set in August 2018 while the city also enjoyed its best May to July period of all time this year.

In total, 562,922 rooms were sold in the three-month window with data showing that overall weekend occupancy levels across the year currently stands at 82%.

Bill Addy, Liverpool BID Company’s CEO, believes the figures reflect the city hotel industry’s ambition to create a ‘circular and sustainable visitor economy’

“Having this key marker of impact – of overnight stays and increased local spend – helps us to identify the events which will have the biggest impact on our hospitality and our cultural sectors,” he told the BBC.

“This is a city that welcomes visitors.

“We need to support local businesses to be able to deliver a great welcome for visitors so that they want to stay here and they want to come back.”
