Mamadou Sakho may be offered a fresh route out of Liverpool by West Brom in January.
The defender originally turned down a loan move to The Hawthorns in the summer as he battled in vain to save his struggling Anfield career.
But the Liverpool Echo claim the Baggies are planning to make a renewed approach for Sakho, who has accepted that he has no future with the Reds, in the transfer window.
Several clubs are expected to target the former France international in January, with former team mate Mario Balotelli urging him to join Nice.
Jurgen Klopp has overlooked Sakho since he was sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America for repeatedly flouting club rules.
His chances were further diminished by a refusal to entertain loan moves to West Brom, Stoke and Besiktas as he recovered from an Achilles injury.
An incendiary social media post in September which claimed a ‘lie’ was behind his first-team exile appeared to be the beginning of the end for Sakho at Anfield.
Since then he has found only regular football with the club’s under-23 side.
