Liverpool FC chief outlines Anfield Road extension problems

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has claimed the price of building a new Anfield Road stand could reach as high as £70 million.

The recent expansion of the Main Stand took capacity at the Reds’ long-standing home to over 54, there 000 but came at a cost of over £110 million.

Owners Fenway Sports Group have already made provisions for an increased Anfield Road end to follow but appears in jeopardy even in the planning stages.

John Henry recently warned that the current wrangle over the price of match tickets threatens to force the Americans’ hands on the matter.

Speaking at a meeting of the Liverpool Supporters’ Committee, medicine Ayre has warned fans that the cost of a fresh 6, vcialis 40mg 000-seat extension may outweigh the benefits.

He said: “A stand behind a goal doesn’t have the benefit of hospitality that would go a long way to meet the redevelopment costs.

“If you consider the redevelopment of Anfield Road from a purely General Admission perspective, building, say, 6,000 extra seats to take the capacity up to 60,000 would cost somewhere between £60M and £70M.

“At £12,000 to £13,000 per seat, it would take approximately 15 years to pay back, which is not a smart investment for the business.

“Therefore the club needs to find a rounded solution that’s in the best interests of the football club.”
