Burnley expect to receive a club-record transfer fee at the tribunal of Liverpool’s signing of Danny Ings.
A decision has yet to be reached in the case of the 23-year-old’s free transfer to Anfield last summer as the Championship club outfit compensation for the development of a player under the age of 24 in accordance with Football Association legislation.
The Clarets cited a last-ditch offer from Tottenham Hotspur as justification for a higher fee and chief executive Dave Baldwin has revealed that the club anticipate a windfall from their Reds counterparts for Ings, who is currently recovering from a season-ending knee injury.
“The reason it is different to the ordinary is this tribunal claim will be the biggest in history,” he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
“The key to this was that we bring the claim against Liverpool, therefore we had to prepare an extremely robust case.
“You’re talking a documentation bundle of probably in excess of 400 or 500 pages with witness statements, evidence, analytics about player performance, the statement as to why we make a judgement as to what we believe the player is worth, compared to what Liverpool want to offer.
“You get your ducks in a row and do the job right.”
