Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s tactics were to blame for Liverpool’s Europa League final defeat.
Last season’s showpiece in Basel saw the Reds surrender their first-half lead as reigning holders Sevilla completed a three-goal comeback after the interval.
Manchester United legend Ferguson noted in a UEFA technical report that Klopp’s penchant for a high-pressing approach in last May’s final was to blame for the Anfield club’s collapse.
He said: “In the second half Liverpool had no energy, they could not get to the ball.
“The space in midfield became bigger. I never had a team who could press a ball all season.”
