Mamadou Sakho faces a potentially bleak future at Liverpool after turning down a third successive loan offer.
The France international has now rejected a season-long switch to Besiktas as well as previous offers from West Brom and Stoke City in the past week.
Sakho was forced to train in isolation after he was expelled from the Reds’ pre-season tour of America for multiple breaches of club rules.
Jurgen Klopp had hoped the 26-year-old would seize a brief spell away from Anfield as an opportunity to reclaim a starting role upon his return.
Liverpool are unlikely to call on Sakho with Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan in Liverpool’s defensive ranks while others are able to deputise.
His refusal to entertain joining either two Premier League clubs or the Turkish side, against Klopp’s wishes, may see his potential downfall accelerated.
Sunderland have also expressed an interest in taking the former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back on a short-term deal.
