Everton’s Jordan Pickford has won the Premier League’s Save of the Season.
Pickford received two nominations for the award for his stops in the wins over Manchester United and Newcastle which were crowned Save of the Month.
It took the England international’s haul to a record four successes in the category which put him ahead of Arsenal counterpart David Raya.
His save to deny Sandro Tonali’s volley in the Blues’ victory at St James’ Park in February has now been crowned the top flight’s outstanding effort.
“You put in hard work on the training ground and enjoy moments like that,” Pickford said in March.
“Tonali’s hit it as best as he could. I think he’s even come out and said that.
“It was a massive game. I’ll always take the three points and if I can help the team to get a result and be called upon, that’s what I’m there to do.
“But yeah, it was a great save.”
David Moyes hailed the stop as ‘out of this world’ after the 3-2 win while teammate Jarrad Branthwaite labelled it ‘the best save I have ever seen’.
Pickford previously won the league’s inaugural Save of the Season in 2021/22 for his reflex stop against Chelsea in the final month of that campaign.
The 32-year-old is the first multiple winner of the award with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Thomas Kaminski and Emiliano Martínez the other recipients.
