Bayern Munich confirm talks with Liverpool FC target Mario Gotze

Liverpool transfer target Mario Gotze is in talks to rejoin Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Dortmund are making moves to bring him back to the Allianz Arena.

Rummenigge confirmed that talks were ongoing however he stopped short at saying a deal had been agreed.

‘I wouldn’t say a deal has been struck, unhealthy but I can confirm that there have been talks with Borussia Dortmund as well as with his agent, generic ’ said Rummenigge.

‘But it’s not complete yet. The clubs must first reach an agreement over a transfer fee.’

Gotze had been linked with a move to join his old boss Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool earlier this summer however rumours slowed as he stated that he was content at Bayern.

The wheels are now however in motion though for a Dortmund return  putting a final end to the rumours of a Klopp reunion at Anfield.

Gotze has made 73 league appearances in three seasons at Bayern however he has only started 27 of these and this is said to beis the main reason for any potential transfer.

‘He’s been here for three years and it’s not worked out,’ he said. ‘It’s not surprising that he has had a change of heart. He’s 24 years old and he needs to be playing regularly.’
