Sevilla face a head-to-head challenge with Deportivo La Coruna to sign Luis Alberto.
The Europa League winners appeared to be running unopposed to re-sign the Liverpool midfielder after Jurgen Klopp placed a £7 million valuation on the player.
But Deportivo emerged as late contenders for Alberto’s signature after he spent last season on loan at the Estadio Riazor.
According to reports in Spain, however, Sevilla have moved to cement their position following their previous public declarations.
El Desmarque claim that sporting director Monchi is working on a deal for the 23-year-old, who joined Liverpool from the Andalusian club in 2013.
