Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood plant will be shut down for a third week.
Staff at the Merseyside production factory were sent home on September 1 after a cyber attack that impacted the carmaker’s global computer systems.
Owners Tata Motors took ‘immediate action’ in attempts to limit the damage but have since admitted that some data was compromised in the attack.
An estimated 1,000 cars a day and £72 million in sales have been lost across JLR’s factories in Halewood and the Midlands since the hiatus took effect.
Workers have now been informed that the company will freeze all production until at least September 24, marking a third week since the hack occurred.
“We have taken this decision as our forensic investigation of the cyber incident continues, and as we consider the different stages of the controlled restart of our global operations, which will take time,” read a JLR statement.
“We are very sorry for the continued disruption this incident is causing and we will continue to update as the investigation progresses.”
