Veteran Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce.
A £5.5 million bid was accepted by the Reds for the centre-back earlier this summer from the Turkish side and the deal is finally nearing completion.
In a statement on Fenerbahce’s official website, the club confirmed that talks with Skrtel and his representatives had begun.
The Slovakia international, 31, will leave Anfield after falling out of favour following Jurgen Klopp’s appointment, with only four starting appearances in 2016.
Skrtel was forced to apologise at the end of June for quotes attributed to him on social media in which he appeared to call the Liverpool manager an offensive term.
