A Liverpool doctor who said she would ‘support Adolf Hitler if he was around today’ has been allowed to return to work.
Dr Mili Shah received a four-month suspension following the comments which dated back to 2021 as part of a tribunal on failings related to patient care.
The 47-year-old dermatologist made the remark in an ‘abhorrent’ outburst to a colleague at Broadgreen Hospital which amounted to racial harrassment.
Dr Shah, who is no longer employed by the NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, was said to have made slur about another member of staff.
The hearing was told her remarks were ‘nasty and venemous’ and included “All this antisemitism…if Hitler was around today I would support him”.
At the tribunal, Dr Shah said she had no recollection of the remarks but saw her licence to practise suspended by reason of misconduct, subject to review.
But a review by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service concluded that she is free to return to work, overturning the verdict from March’s original ruling.
