Hospital workers in Liverpool are set to receive belated COVID-19 bonuses.
Staff including porters, cleaners and caterers at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital had originally missed out on the one-off payment to health workers.
They were denied the financial recognition for working through the pandemic due to not being directly employed by the NHS at the end of March 2023.
More than 130 of those affected launched a two-week walkout on Monday which was curtailed after hospital bosses agreed to pay the lump sum.
Kerry Nash, senior organiser from union GMB, said: “Our members have stuck together to fight for what they rightly deserve.
“Receiving the payment for them was about respecting their roles and the contributions they made to support patient care.
“All health workers who put their lives on the line during the pandemic deserve this payment and now, thankfully, our members will get it too.”
