Review: Bottomless Brunch at Panam Bar & Restaurant

On a weekend when the Brexit fallout was the main topic of conversation, the Panam Bar & Restaurant offered a little light relief from the potential doom and gloom.

The Panam is located in the Albert Dock and offers beautiful views of the Liverpool waterfront and the famous Albert Dock. The layout is excellent in terms of spaciousness and you do not feel at all cramped. It’s a beautifully appointed restaurant and bar with close attention to detail paid. It’s luxurious, comfortable – everything you’d want to kick back and relax.

The Panam offers a “Bottomless Brunch” priced at £35 per head which effectively gives you 2 hours to eat a two course brunch and indulge in bottomless prosecco, Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s.

To start the brunch a platter of Buttermilk Pancakes and Waffles are delivered to the table to be shared. It comes paired with fresh berries, blueberry compote, maple syrup and whipped cream. I really like the idea of a sharing platter to start. The whole thing is quite relaxed and the sharing platter really adds to that.

Everything on the platter was absolutely delicious – the pancakes are light and fluffy and paired with the fresh berries they are a lovely treat.

The drinks were topped up regularly throughout the entire brunch. We didn’t have to ask for more drinks. Our waiter, Tom, was very attentive and made us feel very welcome at the Panam. It’s rare in this day and age to have truly outstanding customer service however Tom made sure that this was the case.

There are a number of choices for your “Main Course” including Steak and Eggs, Fried Chicken and Waffles, Breakfast Enchiladas and Chimchurri Beef Hash. Our party tried the Steak and Eggs, Chicken and Waffles and Smoked Salmon Risotto.

The Steak and Eggs are served beautifully. You get a full 8oz steak paired with Potato Rosti, A fried egg, tomatoes and mushrooms. The steak was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sides were delicious.

The Fried Chicken and Waffles was served with BBQ beans which were absolutely delicious. A tasty waffle was loaded with a large crispy chicken breast and a side of gravy was served. Being a huge fan on sweet & savoury together this was perfect for me.

The Risotto was loaded with Smoked Salmon pieces and Hollandaise sauce and adorned with a poached egg. This was a light refreshing almost alternative twist on a Brunch and it was lovely.

The Panam is one of the veterans of the Liverpool restuarant scene as it heads towards it’s 15th Birthday and the experience and knowledge is palpable for the customer. The Panam knows it’s customer and meets their needs perfectly.

The service is excellent, the food is even better and the prosecco is bottomless – what more could you want!
