A man has been rushed to hospital after being repeatedly stabbed in Toxteth.
Police were called to Bedford Walk just after 4.30pm on Saturday to reports that the victim in his 30s had been stabbed multiple times inside a property.
He has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as stable and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Keith Swift said: “The use of knives to inflict serious harm in Merseyside will not be tolerated.
“Thankfully, the victim’s injuries in this incident are not more serious, but we know all too well that when knives are picked up and used in this way, the consequences can be catastrophic.
“Based on our initial enquires, we believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other, and our investigation into this incident is progressing well.
“We are determined to bring the offender to justice, and we remain committed to taking knives off the streets and putting those who are prepared to store, carry and use them before the courts.
