Liverpool FC reject £8M bid for Joe Allen

Liverpool have rejected a bid of £8 million from Swansea City for Joe Allen, sales according to reports.

An offer for the Welshman, who joined the Reds from Swansea for £15 million back in 2012, was turned down over a week ago, despite indications that Allen is keen to leave Anfield this summer.

The 26-year-old found himself on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s side last season; making just eight Premier League starts for the Reds despite putting together a string of impressive performances.

Premier League rivals Swansea had been touted as the player’s most likely destination, with the Camarthen-born player still harbouring a soft spot for the Welsh side after progressing through the academy ranks at the Liberty Stadium.

But Liverpool officials think that Allen is worth more than the initial £8 million offer from the Swans, especially given the way in which the diminutive midfielder has starred for his country at Euro 2016.

It is believed that only a bid in excess of £10 million will tempt the Reds to sell Allen, with La Liga side Sevilla, Celtic and a host of other Premier League clubs also rumoured to be monitoring the Welshman’s situation.
