Liverpool suffer three more COVID-19 cases

Liverpool have suffered three more Covid cases ahead of their trip to Chelsea.

Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones tested positive before the win over Newcastle earlier this month while Thiago Alcantara was sidelined days later.

However Jurgen Klopp has now confirmed his side could be without a further three players when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds manager refused to confirm which players had returned positive lateral flow tests as they await the results of a confirmatory PCR swab.

“We have three new Covid cases in the team and a few more in the staff, so it’s not so cool in the moment,” said Klopp.

“I’m not [able to reveal the names] because we still have to make the whole processes, getting a proper PCR and all these kind of things.

“But you will see the day after tomorrow on the teamsheet. It will be pretty clear then who is affected or infected.”
