Three Liverpool first-team players have tested positive for Covid-19.
Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Curtis Jones are all set to miss Thursday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United following their diagnoses.
Anfield chiefs confirmed that no further cases were detected among their senior squad after undergoing further testing ahead of facing the Magpies.
However Jurgen Klopp’s side face the prospect of their Carabao Cup quarter final with Leicester City being postponed as a result of mounting Covid cases.
Both of the Foxes’ games with Tottenham Hotspur, who Liverpool take on this weekend, and Everton have already been called off by the Premier League.
“The three players are now isolating,” confirmed a Liverpool statement.
“As a result, the entire Reds’ set-up, including all players and staff, were tested for COVID-19 again today with no further positive cases being detected.”
