Can wants international teammate Gotze to make Liverpool FC switch

Emre Can believes that Mario Gotze should join him at Liverpool this summer.

German World Cup winner Gotze has been strongly linked with a potential reunion with former manager Jurgen Klopp at Anfield- the pair worked together at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund- after falling out of favour at the Bavarian giants.

Gotze’s international teammate, Can, came through the youth ranks at Bayern but left for Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 before making the move to Anfield a year later.

And the impressive young midfielder has responded favourably to speculation Gotze with a close season move to Merseyside.

“I’d be very happy if Mario were to decide in favour of Liverpool,” Can said in an interview with Bild.

“Everyone knows what a great footballer he is and what qualities he has. He obviously lacked a bit of confidence at Bayern recently, but that’s just normal when you are not winning game time.”

The 22-year-old German has improved immensely under the canny tutelage of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, and Can insists a move to Anfield would also benefit Gotze’s career in the long-term.

He added: “The step to Liverpool would be a good one for Mario. Jurgen Klopp has shown this season that he puts a lot of trust in young players.”

“You can only advise young players to make the step to Liverpool.”
