Divock Origi has confirmed he remains on course for a potential Liverpool return in next week’s Europa League final.
Earlier this week Jürgen Klopp announced that Origi is out on the pitches at Melwood as he recovers from an ankle inury sustained at last months Derby.
Origi has yet to resume full training with his teammates, the striker told Liverpoolfc.com that he still holds hopes of a comeback against Sevilla in Basel on May 18.
He said: “I’m ahead of schedule, so there’s still a chance for the final.
“I just have to do everything and it’s the manager who decides what will happen.
“I’d say my mind says that I can be ready but the body has to follow, so we’ll see.”
The 21-year-old isn’t resting on his laurels as he battles back to fitness, either, and has been committed to using his time on the sidelines to positive effect.
“In every aspect I try to use my time to the maximum,” he added.
“You have time to think and see your game and so you can use this time in a good way.
“Now, mentally I’m fresh and everything’s okay, so hopefully my body will be right and then we’ll see.”
