Liverpool’s bid to land Mario Gotze has been boosted by incoming Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Reports in Germany suggest that the 23-year-old has been told he can leave the Allianz Arena this summer after making just 10 appearances this season, with both the Reds and Borussia Dortmund both coveting the playmaker.
Gotze rose to prominence at Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp’s time as manager and he is understood to be keen on reuniting with his former protege at Anfield.
And SZ claim that Ancelotti, who will take over at Bayern when Pep Guardiola departs at the end of this season, has told the Germany international he is now free to leave the re-crowned Bundesliga champions.
