Liverpool deliver Anfield Road expansion update

Liverpool are still assessing a potential expansion of the Anfield Road End.

Outline planning permission for further redevelopment of the Reds’ home would take its capacity to over 60,000 seats but is set to expire in late September.

Club owners Fenway Sports Group previously sanctioned £110 million on a rebuilt Main Stand in 2016, which added a further 9,000 seats to the stadium.

And Liverpool chairman Tom Werner admits that no final decision has yet been made on whether the Anfield Road End expansion will begin later this year.

He said: “We are still analysing the opportunity to build on Anfield Road. I think that we are trying to figure it out.

“When we went forward with the Main Stand expansion, which I’m very proud about, we obviously wanted to do it right so we were quiet about it.

“In a perfect world we will be able to figure this out.”
