Liverpool demand £15m for promising forward

Liverpool have set a £15 million price tag on promising forward Taiwo Awoniyi.

Awoniyi is yet to make a senior appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side since completing a £400,00 move to Anfield in 2015 due to work permit issues.

Since then, the Nigeria under-23 international has spent a succession of loan spells with FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, KAA Gent and Royal Excel Mouscron.

Several clubs from across Europe previously expressed an interest signing in Awoniyi including Bundesliga outfit Schalke and Klopp’s former employers Mainz.

CSKA Moscow are the latest side to keep tabs on the 21-year-old but have been warned that they will have to match the Reds’ valuation for the player.

However the Anfield hierarchy have not discounted another loan agreement for Awoniyi despite the threat of further complications surrounding his work permit.

Unless he receives a senior call-up by Nigeria, the situation is unlikely to change and could potentially worsen in the coming months with the fallout from Brexit.
