Liverpool have released Jose Enrique despite his existing Anfield contract due to expire this summer.
The decision to part company with the defender comes after he made just 12 appearances for the Reds in the past two seasons. His only outings this season all came in the FA Cup.
Enrique, a £5 million arrival from Newcastle in 2011, fell out of favour under former manager Brendan Rodgers and was banished to train in isolation last summer alongside fellow misfits Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini.
Following the arrival of Jurgen Klopp earlier this season, the Spaniard has failed to force his way into the plans of Rodgers’ successor despite doubts persisting over compatriot Alberto Moreno.
The 30-year-old will now be denied the chance to bid farewell to supporters during Wednesday’s final home game of the season against Chelsea.
