Firmino set for Champions League final start

Roberto Firmino could start in Liverpool’s Champions League final with Tottenham.

Firmino had missed the final weeks of the Reds’ season with a torn adductor muscle that also sidelined him for the semi-final comeback against Barcelona.

But the Brazil international is in contention to lead the line against the Londoners on Saturday night after coming through a pre-match training session unscathed.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were put through their paces in the Estadio Metropolitano with an intense session on the eve of the clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Asked whether Firmino could feature, Klopp replied: “From this point of view, yes – he’s ready.

“He’s fit, he’s trained so if nothing happens from the moment when he left the plane until now then he should be fine.

“But I will leave some question marks over my team. If Poch comes in here and tells you his team, give me a call and I will tell you mine!”
