Hodgson sold Liverpool player by mistake

Roy Hodgson mistakenly sold a Liverpool player to Fulham, it has been claimed.

Hodgson lasted barely six months in the Anfield hot seat in which he oversaw a series of humiliating results before eventually being replaced by Kenny Dalglish.

But the Crystal Palace manager’s failings extended to transfer business too, with ex-Reds winger Alexander Kacaniklic claiming he was sold in error to Fulham.

Kacaniklic and fellow youth prospect Lauri Dalla Valle both moved to Craven Cottage as part of a deal which took Paul Konchesky in the opposite direction.

However the 27-year-old alleges that Hodgson mistakenly sanctioned his sale to the Londoners during negotiations to be reunited with Konchesky at Anfield.

“In his head, he thought he changed another Alex for Konchesky. But then it was too late. It’s a little funny,” Kacaniklic told FotbollScanalen.

“Then he just told me I was welcome back in Liverpool with open arms, but that I should do what I felt.

“I did not [go back]. Then I had already changed my mind and was very excited about coming to Fulham.”
