Real Madrid make Klopp top priority as new manager

Real Madrid are planning to revive their interest in Jurgen Klopp this summer.

Klopp has become the fallen European champions’ top target to replace Santiago Solari in the wake of their Champions League last 16 exit to Ajax on Tuesday.

The Independent claim the Liverpool manager is leading the shortlist for Los Blancos’ hot seat, which also includes Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri.

Jose Mourinho’s potential return to the Bernabeu has not been discounted but does not fit with plans to install a coach to oversee a new exciting era at the club.

Prior to arriving at Anfield in 2015, Klopp passed up the chance to manage the Spanish giants, who are hopeful that he can be convinced a second time around.

The German has guided Liverpool to the finals of the Champions League, Europa League and EFL Cup as well as overseeing their current Premier League title bid.

Klopp’s existing deal on Merseyside is currently set to expire in summer 2022.
