Liverpool handed fitness boost for Leicester clash

Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum are in line to return for Liverpool next week.

The midfield duo had been doubts for the Reds’ upcoming game with Leicester City due to injuries picked up either side of the win over Crystal Palace.

Fabinho picked up a slight knock in the seven-goal thriller with the Eagles while Wijnaldum suffered a similar problem in the recent victory over Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp heads into next Wednesday’s game with no established right-back due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury and James Milner’s one-game suspension.

Teenager Ki-Jana Hoever, who made his debut in the FA Cup defeat at Wolves, is also unlikely to be available for next Wednesday’s visit of the struggling Foxes.

But the Brazilian midfielder is expected to slot into the role, having previously played there for both Monaco and with his country at international level.

Wijnaldum’s own return to contention will allow Fabinho to vacate his preferred holding role and deputise in the absence of both Alexander-Arnold and Milner.

Liverpool have taken advantage of their early FA Cup exit with a warm weather training camp in Dubai this week as part of preparations for the Leicester clash.
