Liverpool FC dealt huge transfer blow as top summer target vows to stay put

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has dealt a hammer blow to Liverpool’s transfer plans by pledging his future to Barcelona.

The Germany international had previously spoken out against the former European champions, highlighting his frustration at only featuring in cup games as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper, behind Claudio Bravo.

Jurgen Klopp was previously linked with ter Stegen as one of his key transfer targets at Anfield this summer but the 24-year-old has suggested that he will instead commit his future to the La Liga giants.

“I’m very happy here and I want to stay here, with the life I have. It’s a lovely place to live,” he told Barca TV.

“You can never relax and you always have to give everything. Both myself and Claudio and Jordi [Masip] want to play and we work week after week to do so.

“I think that this idea is good for the team, too, because we’re always ready.”
