Sturridge remains in Liverpool plans despite FA probe

Daniel Sturridge remains ‘100 per cent’ available for Liverpool despite a looming Football Associaton charge.

The former England striker has requested additional time to respond to English football’s governing body in their probe of an alleged breaches of betting rules.

Sturridge remains a regular fixture in Jurgen Klopp’s plans this season, starting four times for the Reds and featuring a further eight times in all competitions.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Watford, the Liverpool manager has vowed that the 29-year-old will remain in contention irrespective of the ongoing investigation.

He said: “Obviously I know about the case [but] you don’t see any influence on Daniel in training, so that’s good.

“I don’t know if I can say anything about the case, what happens. It’s difficult to get information about it but that’s it.

“In training he has been in good shape; looks sharp, looks focused but, of course, it’s not something you want to be involved in.

“From my point of view, as long as nobody tells me anything different, and as long as he trains well, he is 100 per cent in contention.”
