Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan is on the verge of a move to Cagliari.
Klavan moved to Anfield two years ago from Augsburg in a £4.2 million deal but Jurgen Klopp has now allowed the centre-back to leave the club.
The Reds accepted a £2m offer from Cagliari for the Estonia international, who was granted permission to travel to Italy to finalise the deal on Friday.
Klopp sanctioned Klavan’s departure with Liverpool well-stocked in the heart of defence with Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.
Academy graduate Nathaniel Phillips is another option after earning rave reviews from the German coach for his performances during pre-season.
Klavan, 32, has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and is understood to view the switch to Serie A as an ideal outlet for regular first-team football.
