Nikola Vlasic has left Everton for a season-long loan with CSKA Moscow.
Vlasic arrived at Goodison Park last summer in a £8 million deal from Hajduk Split after facing the Blues during the Europa League qualifying stages.
But the attacking midfielder struggled for a regular first-team place despite making 19 appearances in all competitions over the previous campaign.
Everton confirmed on Wednesday that Vlasic, 20, will now spend the remainder of this season in the Russian Premier League with CSKA.
The Croatia under-21 international’s move to the Moscow-based club is the third loan outgoing this summer, following Kevin Mirallas and Ashley Williams.
Mirallas completed a switch to Fiorentina while Williams dropped down a division to join Championship returnees Stoke City in a similar deal.
It is understood that Everton are still hopeful of moving on Cuco Martina before the European transfer window closes at the end of this month.
