Xherdan Shaqiri is on the verge of completing a £13 million move to Liverpool.
Shaqiri underwent a medical with the Reds on Friday morning after they agreed to trigger the release clause in the winger’s contract at Stoke City.
An announcement confirming the winger’s capture is expected to be made in the next 24 hours should he complete all formalities on a switch to Anfield.
The Swiss international attracted interest from across Europe following Stoke’s Premier League relegation but is keen to stay in the English top flight.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to draft Shaqiri, 26, into his squad ahead of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States towards the end of this month.
Klopp, meanwhile, has confirmed the return dates of Liverpool’s various World Cup stars, with Mohamed Salah among those set to take part in the US tour.
Despite recovering from injury in the Champions League final, Salah suffered an early exit with Egypt while Sadio Mane suffered a similar fate with Senegal.
Marko Grujic is also due to travel Stateside while Roberto Firmino is expected to link up with Liverpool at their four-day training camp in France.
“They had their holiday and then they’ll come with us to the USA,” said Klopp.
They only had three weeks’ holiday so it means they didn’t lose too much.
“We have to see how they present and then we’ll see if they can play in the games. They will be there. And then the last group [of World Cup players] comes much later.”
