Ings set to leave Liverpool this summer

Danny Ings plans to leave Liverpool this summer despite a new contract offer.

Ings struggled to make an impact at Anfield following his arrival from Burnley almost three years ago due to a combination of injury problems.

The striker suffered an ACL knee injury on England duty immediately after Jurgen Klopp’s arrival as Reds manager before returning a year later.

However Ings’ comeback trail proved to be short-lived as he sustained a fresh setback during Liverpool’s League Cup win over Totenham in October 2016.

He marked a return to action with 14 outings last season and scored in April’s draw with West Brom but is now considering a move away from Merseyside.

Klopp is understood to be keen on retaining the 25-year-old with a new deal but he has set his sights on pursuing regular first-team football elsewhere.

Ings is unlikely to stake a regular claim in Liverpool’s attack with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane occupying the forward line.
